Jerome A. Bredesen, age 85 of Eau Claire, died on Sunday, November 6, 2011, at Syverson Lutheran Home. Jerome was born on December 25, 1925, in Eau Claire, WI to Edwin and Ruth (Johnson) Bredesen. He graduated from Altoona High School in 1943 and later joined the Navy where he fought in WWII in the Pacific from 1943 to 1946. After his service in WWII, Jerome did Telegrapher training for the Soo Line Railroad in Minneapolis, MN. He then married Edna Lindberg on November 6, 1948, at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. After their marriage, he had many Railroad Telegraphy assignments in various cities throughout West Central WI, retiring in 1979 as an Official Agent at the Eau Claire Soo Line Depot. Following his railroad retirement, he worked for Direct Oil and as a driver for Saturn. During his retirement, Jerome spent time with his dog, Babe and spent countless hours at his family tree farm. He was very active and was past Governor of the Moose Lodge in Eau Claire. He was also fond of his church activities, going on drives with his family and going out to eat. Jerome is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife of 63 years, Edna; children, Ronald Bredesen of Chippewa Falls, WI and Rhonda Bredesen of Lakeville, MN; granddaughter, Nicole (Dave) Dempsey of Boyd, WI; siblings, Robert (Marlene) Bredesen of Fall Creek, WI, Betty Toutant of North Fort Meyers, FL, and Joan (Clay) Spencer of Homosassa FL; and many nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 West Grand Avenue, Eau Claire, with Pastor David Irgens officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, town of Washington.
