Jerome B. "JB" Turney, 96, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, January 27, 2009. He was born in the Town of Washington, Eau Claire County, on November 30, 1912, to Franklin&Elizabeth (Burgess) Turney. JB attended the Elbow School and Eau Claire Senior High School. He left school early to help on the family farm. He would take all day horse&buggy trips to the Eau Claire mill to pick up supplies. The Turney farm was the first farm in the Town of Washington to have a generator. JB married Gladys Kaeding in Fall Creek on July 22, 1939. They had two beautiful girls, Kathleen & Maxine.JB was devoted to his family and has positively influenced three generations. He worked 40 years at Uniroyal, where he walked to and from work every day. He enjoyed a variety of activities in his 33 years of retirement; they included fishing, dancing, golfing, traveling, playing cards, biking & dining out. JB had a great love of animals, especially dogs & cats. JB is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (LaVerne) Schellfeffer of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Holly (Paul) Nelson of Eleva, Mark (Sue) Schellfeffer of Eau Claire, Todd (Michelle) Forcier of Wisconsin Rapids, Michael Schellfeffer of Elkhorn, Troy (Amy) Forcier of Hudson, and Amy (Rick) Pabst of Chippewa Falls; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Doris R. Dewitz of Eau Claire and Phyllis L. Horlacher of Strum; son-in-law, Daniel (Joann) Forcier of Osseo; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Porky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys in 2008; his parents; a daughter, Maxine Forcier; and a grandson, James Schellfeffer; sisters, Buelah Turney, Avis Tinker & Marcia Martin; brothers, Gerald & Grey Turney; two nephews; and a niece. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1804 Highland Ave. Eau Claire, with Pastor Karen M. Hofstad officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving his family.
