Obituary

Jerome H. Wittren, 70, of Altoona, died Sunday, August 8, 2010, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.\r\nJerry was born on August 12, 1939 in Altoona, WI, a son of Henry and Margaret (Levasseur) Wittren.\r\nHe graduated from Altoona High School with the class of 1958.\r\nHe entered the U.S. Air force on September 16, 1958, and was honorably discharged on September 14, 1962.\r\nJerry worked almost 30 years at UniRoyal, and then at Banbury Place until his retirement in 2002.\r\nHe enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and loved to garden.\r\nJerry had a big heart and was always ready to help others.\r\nJerry is survived by his son, Joey Wittren of California; sister, Dorothy (Donald) Sorensen of Beloit; brother, Donald Wittren of Altoona; sister-in-law, Aubrey Wittren of Altoona; nephew, nieces, many friends; and his beloved pets.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Lloyd Wittren.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday on August 11, 2010, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire with the Rev. Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial with military honors will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery near Spooner. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday prior to services at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home. \r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to the Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club, 801 Schoettl Ave, Eau Claire, WI, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
