JESSIE C. THURSTON, 72, of 331 W. Washington St., Fall Creek, died Thursday, October 17, 1996 at her residence. She was born January 26, 1924 in Tampa Bay, Florida to George and Christaina (Nesselrod) Hoover. She grew up and received her education in the Tampa Bay area. Jessie moved to Altoona in 1950 after her marriage to Robert W. Thurston. She was a cook and waitress at the former Gutsch's Supper Club until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Altoona. \r\nSurvivors include a sister, Annise Rogers, Danville,WV; many nieces and nephews which locally includes two nieces, Alice(Tom) Steuding and Judith Owens both of Altoona; four nephews, Richard (Edith) Gilbert, Eau Claire, Donald (Donna) Gilbert of Altoona, Kenneth(Jean)Gilbert of Union Grove and Charles (Diane) Gilbert of Augusta; two great nieces, Lisa (Ray) Sedahl and Lana (David) Partlow both of Altoona; \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents and fourteen brothers and sisters.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 2 P.M. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Altoona with Pastor Gerald L. Herman officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. Friends may call 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at church.\r\nThe family requests memorials be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
