Joan C. Bembnister, 69, of the town of Seymour died Sunday, September 21, 2008, at her home after a courageous battle with medical complications. She was born in St. Paul, MN, on November 29, 1938, the daughter of Frank and Wilhelmina (Gies) Metz.\r\nFollowing graduation from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1956, Joan attended UW- Eau Claire, and The Minnesota School of Business.\r\nJoan married Richard F. Bembnister on August 2, 1958, at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. They shared the enjoyment of many activities such as gardening, fishing, motorcycling and dancing. She was also active with several golf leagues in the area.\r\nShe was employed at Northwestern Credit Bureau for several years and in 1980 became credit manager at Consumer's Co-op which became Mega Fuels, until her retirement in 1993.\r\nJoan is survived by her husband, Richard of 50 years; son, Michael of Eau Claire; two daughters, Laura (Tim) Reed of Menomonie and Linda (Kevin) Snyder of Hudson; four grandsons, Andrew and Matthew Reed, and Franklin and Zane Snyder; two brothers, William Metz of Altoona and Jim (Mary) Metz of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Roland (Sue) Bembnister of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Rita (Charlie) Clark of Hallie; and many nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Frank Metz; nephew, Frank Metz Jr.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Cecelia Bembnister; and sister-in-law, Teresa Metz..\r\nFuneral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September, 25, 2008, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Benrud officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
