Obituary

Joan A. Roswell, 69, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, May 18, 2003 at Sacred Heart Hospital after a courageous two year battle with lung cancer. She was born in Chicago, IL on Friday, October 13, 1933, the daughter of Valentine and Dorothy (Burns) Cardinal. She graduated from McDonell High School with the class of 1952.\r\nJoan married Duane B. Roswell on November 8, 1952 in Chippewa Falls. She was employed at Uniroyal Tire Company until her retirement in 1991. Joan was a volunteer for the Chippewa Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau and later became a full-time coordinator until her health prohibited her from working.\r\nShe is survived by her husband, Duane; three sons, Rodney (Sue Thompto), Keith (Tina Kumm) and Joel (Sandra), all of Eau Claire; a daughter, Karen (David) Ring of Waconia, MN; seven grandchildren, Ben Koch, Ryan and Nathan Ring, Jacqueline Roswell and Charles, Sarah and Amanda Roswell; three brothers, Don, Phillip (Roxene) and Tom (Carol) Cardinal, all of Chippewa Falls; a sister, Mary Beth (Ray) Johnson of Bozeman, MT; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randy in 1979; a sister, Rosemary Cardinal; and a sister-in-law, Joan Cardinal.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2003 at St. Olaf Catholic Church with Father Frank Corradi officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
