Joanne Margaret Flaten

On April 9th, 2026, Joanne Margaret Flaten heard her Lord say, "Well done good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Master." Mt 25:21

Joanne was born June 25th, 1935 in Eau Claire, WI to John and Stella (Bye) Wick. She was baptized, confirmed and married in Eau Claire at First Lutheran Church. Joanne made her wedding vows to her beloved Roger Lavern Flaten on October 19th, 1958. Roger preceded her in death on July 2nd, 2025. She longed to be reunited with him.

Joanne was preceded in death by; her sister, Lorraine Norrish (Earl) and brother, Jim Wick (Elaine) and their spouses.

Servant-hood came naturally to Joanne and she intentionally lived to fulfill Ephesians 6 6:7, "but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you are serving the Lord, not man." In her serving she fed the hungry and gave drink to the thirsty. She showed hospitality to the stranger, clothed the naked and visited those in prison. Mt. 25:35&36.

She is survived by: her son, Christopher (Denise), his children, Veronica LaGesse (Casey Ringer), great-grandchildren, Easton, Paityn, Jayce and Journey from New Auburn, WI, Averi Firari of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Corinne Flaten-Firari, and great-grandson, L.J. of California, her son, Steven (Jodeen), their sons, Tucker (Chandler), great-grandchildren, Sheppard James and Tenely Mae, of Moscow, ID, Samuel (Bridget), great-grandson, Harald Roy, of Eau Claire, and, Jackie, her much loved daughter-in-law, who was married to Roger and Joanne's oldest son, Lauren, who preceded them in death on September 12, 2024. Their first grandson, Michael James, preceded them in death on July 16th, 1991. We grieve, but as people who have hope.

A funeral service for Joanne will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at West Chapel--Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 West Clairemont Avenue, with Pastor Nick Henseler officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery on Monday, May 12 at 11:00 AM.
