Joanne Marie Stygar, 72, of Eau Claire, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at her home with family by her side. Jo was born on February 20, 1943, in Eau Claire to Albert and Margaret (Paulson) Barney. She attended Memorial High School and graduated with the Class of 1961. On August 27, 1966, she married Alexander Stygar at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Eau Claire. Jo worked for a short time as a dietary aid at Luther Hospital, Presto Industries, and as a seamstress out of her own home. Jo was an avid member of the Girl Scouts of America for 35 years. She enjoyed sewing, doll collecting, reading, crafts, genealogy, and spending time with her grandchildren. Jo is survived by her husband of 49 years, Alexander Stygar; daughter, Kyja (Scott) Stygar-Fasbender; son, Alex (Nancy) Stygar; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Fasbender, Shylo Stygar, Victoria Fasbender, and Tristan Stygar; brother-in-law, Ernie Steinke; two sisters-in-law, Mary and Yolanda Stygar; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carol Steinke; and brother, John (Judy) Barney. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Feed My People Food Bank, 2610 Alpine Road Eau Claire, WI 54703, or to a charity of donor's choice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St., in Eau Claire with Rev. Paul Hoffman officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at church. Burial will be held at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Eau Claire. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
