John Herbert Alan Ketzler, age 72, of Mondovi, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Eau Claire. John was born on January 19, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Kenneth and Jean (Carscallen) Ketzler. He graduated from Flint High School and went on to graduate from Michigan Tech with a degree in electrical engineering. He moved to Eau Claire in 1989 and most recently worked at Silicon Logic Engineering until his retirement in 2005. John married Mary (Nourse) Hiller on June 16, 1979 in Roseville, MN.. In his early teens, he and his best friend, Chuck McKay, obtained their amateur radio license and John has continued this hobby and friendship throughout his life. He enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes. John dabbled in farming and goat raising. John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary; step-children, Otto (Betty), Karl (Rocio), Andrew and Martha Hiller; grandchildren, Melinda and Sophia Hiller, Jairus and Jaiden Freeze, Katia Cummings, and Ana Taylor. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janis. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Lenmark-Gosmrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 1st Avenue, Eau Claire, WI.
