John W. Benson, 60, of Eau Claire, died Monday, July 28, 2008, at his home. \r\nHe was born in Eau Claire on November 12, 1947, the son of Norm and Arley (Harshlip) Benson. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nJohn married Linda Mittelstadt on January 13, 1968, in Eau Claire. They later divorced.\r\nJohn worked for Eau Claire Plumbing Supply for many years. \r\nHe loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed time spent with his aunt and uncle, Ray and Shirley Lawrence.\r\nJohn is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Kyle) Zech of Madison; a son, John Benson Jr. of Mondovi; a grandson, Tyler Zech of Madison; a brother, Douglas Benson; two sisters Barbara Shay and Susan Ramsey; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nGraveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2008, at Lakeview Cemetery with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating.
