John William Boettcher, 77, of Eau Claire died at Luther Hospital on Sunday, February 6, 2005. He was born to Arthur and Mildred (Hall) Boettcher October 11, 1927, in the Town of Hay Creek, Eau Claire County.\r\nJohn served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on June 23, 1953.\r\nJohn married Lucille I. LaMuska at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on January 30, 1954. Together they operated Deluxe Bakery in Eau Claire for 22 years until 1987.\r\nHe was a member of Bever American Legion Post #550 in Brackett, former president of the Northside Business Association, and a past member of the Noon Exchange Club.\r\nJohn is survived by his wife, Lucille; son, DuWayne (Rhonda Roth) of Wausau; daughter, Susan (William) Ranney of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Angela and Abigail Boettcher and Joshua and Matthew Ranney; two sisters, Arlys (Wendell) Christianson of Clear Lake and Jean (William) Larson of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Jan Boettcher of Janesville; brother-in-law, Bud Richardson of Amery; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lawrence, Dean, Elmer, and Daniel; two sisters, Phyllis Richardson and infant Jane.\r\nFuneral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2005, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Reverend Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery where Bever American Legion Post #550 will conduct military rites. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at church.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, John's family requests memorials are directed to the Dialysis Unit at Luther Hospital, 1221 Whipple Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703.\r\n
