John J. Brenden, 80, of Madison, formerly of Eau Claire died on February 20th, 2016 at his home. He was born January 30th, 1936 to Marshall J. and Helga C. (Rone) in Eau Claire, Wis. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1954 and graduated from UW-Madison in 1958 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Air Force during 1959. He worked at Forest Products Lab in Madison for over 25 years. John married Sylvia Ferrin on October 14th, 1972. John was a lifetime reader and scholar, and believed in the importance of education. He was always learning and providing "teaching moments" in his kind and gentle manner. His love of history and travel set the course for his most recent tracings of the Lewis and Clark expeditions. He was an avid sports fan and followed the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers, often attending the games with family and friends. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by nephew Mark, niece Kristine, great nephew Bryson, sisters in-law, brothers in-law, and many other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sylvia, and his brother Fred. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 27th, 2016, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., in Eau Claire with Pastor Amy Odgren officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
