Obituary

JOHN O. COOPER, 70, of 1309 Hawthorne St., died Sunday, April 30, 2000 at his home. He was born on October 1, 1929 in Duluth, Minnesota, to John and Harriet (Smith) Cooper. At the age of ten he moved to Eau Claire with his family where he grew up and graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1947. John married Rita Shepler at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Eau Claire, on November 4, 1950. He was a courier at National Presto Industries until his retirement.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Rita; son, Greg (Patricia) Cooper of Lexington, VA; two daughters, Chris (John) Courneya of Blaine, MN, and Anne (Robert) Saatela of Richfield, MN; four grandchildren, Jesse and Johanna Cooper and Elizabeth and Emily Saatela; a sister, Helen (Ralph) Ely of Altoona, and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Keith Saatela.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. James The Greater Catholic Church with Father John A. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the Town of Washington. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
