John M. "Jack" Flynn, 88, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2018, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, with his family by his side. Jack was born on May 21, 1929, a son to Leon and Gladys (Olinger) Flynn. After graduation from St. Patrick's (now Regis) High School in 1948, Jack worked at Uniroyal for 39 years in maintenance as a pipe fitter, and served in the National Guard for 9 years. Jack married Audrey Berg on August 16, 1958, at Sacred Heart Church in Eau Claire. Jack was a "jack" of all trades, willing to fix anything needing to be fixed and he enjoyed working on his many projects in the garage. He enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers, and Brewer games. Having a coffee at McDonalds with his good friends was an important part of his day. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family at his place on the lake in Chetek. His faith was very important to him, as were his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Audrey; his four children, Janice, Steven, Michael, and Paul (Lynn); two brothers, Jerrold (Mitzi) of Tomahawk, and Ronald (Carol) of Chetek; sister-in-law, Valeria Tushner of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Leonard (Margaret) Berg of Eau Claire; nieces; nephews; cousins; Lynn's children and grandchildren; many good friends; as well as his grand-dogs, Barry, Brewer, and Rosie. Jack is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly Brainard; brothers-in-law, Robert Brainard, Charles Berg, James Tushner; and parents-in-law, John and Veronica Berg. The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital's Emergency Room, CCU, 5th floor, and SICU, and to the staff of Pine Grove Family Practice for their many years of caring for Jack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St, Eau Claire, with Father Tom Krieg officiating, A visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until the time of Mass at the church. Burial will take place on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed charities important to Jack and his family: Bob's House for Dogs, E3015 County Road Hh, Eleva; Eau Claire County Humane Association, 3900 Old Town Hall Rd, Eau Claire; Regis Catholic Schools Foundation, 2728 Mall Dr #200, Eau Claire; or St. James the Greater Catholic Church.
