JOHN "JACK" R. OLSON, 74, of 3462 Miller St., died Saturday, February 20, 1999 at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born May 10, 1924 in Eau Claire to Emil and Rosetta (McElroy) Olson. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School with the class of 1942. \r\nJack entered the United States Army Airforce on December 11, 1942 and served in the European Theatre with the 556th Bombardment Squadron until his honorable discharge on October 20, 1945. He worked 37 years at Uniroyal, retiring from the shipping department in 1982. \r\nHe was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #53, VFW Post # 305 and Eau Claire Moose Lodge #1408.\r\nJack married Mary E. Larson on June 28, 1947 in Eau Claire. Mary died on April 21, 1981. By this marriage he is survived by a son, David (Nancy) of New Brighton,MN; two daughters, Debra (Richard) Krahn and Sally Olson both of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Scott and Laura Krahn, Lindsey and Jerrod Smith, and Erik and Ian Olson. \r\nJack married Audrey J. Lund in Reno,NV, on June 21, 1983. He is survived by his wife, Audrey; two step-sons, Richard (Sallie) Lund of Houston,TX, and Thomas (Adele) Lund of Mequon; a step-daughter, Mary (Brian) Barquest of Eau Claire; nine grandchildren, Fred and Michael Lund, Rebecca and Benjamin Lund, Megan, Laura and Emily Barquest, and Sarah (Darrin) Schnedecker and Anna Schnedecker. \r\nHe is also survived by his stepmother, Rose Olson of Chippewa Falls; three sisters, Joan (Bill) Turner of Eau Claire, Carla (Bud) Luedtke of Augusta and Barbara Olson of Strum; and a special aunt and uncle, Don and Loraine McElroy of Eau Claire. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents; and an infant grandson, Kevin Olson. \r\nFuneral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with Pastor Natalie Leske officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
