Obituary

John R. "Jack" Wickland, 74, of 1914 First Street, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at his home. He was born in Eau Claire on December 19, 1928, the son of Alvin and Margaret (Johnson) Wickland. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1946. Jack married Elaine M. Garnett in Eau Claire on August 10, 1952.\r\nJack served in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge in April 1948. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #305. \r\nHe was a meat cutter at Shoppers Market for 38 years, then at Thriftway and retired from Kerm's Pick&Save.\r\nSurvivors include his wife of 50 years, Elaine; four children, Rick (Mary Jo) and their children, Aaron, Andy and Adam Wickland, Tom (Kathleen) and their children, Anne and Alec Wickland, Jane (David) and their children, Eric and Ryan Grosvold, John (Christine) and their daughter, Alexa; a brother Alvin "Colie" (Rita) Wickland of Clear Lake Shores, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard.\r\nFuneral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2003 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Harold Oelschlager officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where VFW Post # 305 will conduct military graveside honors. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
