A remarkable life ended far too abruptly with the sudden and unexpected death of John J. Kannel on March 12, 2012. John was born on November 23, 1947 and was the devoted son of Frances and James Kannel of Cochrane, WI. He was blessed with three children, Luke of Minneapolis, MN, Ann Marie, and Christa, both of Eau Claire; and his wife, Terri. His great joy in life was his children. He marveled in their accomplishments. John was an elementary school teacher for 37 ½ years, with a majority of his time spent in Osseo, WI. He was an avid Packer fan and loved the music of "The Ventures." He was also an innovator and inventor of many projects throughout his life, which inspired creativity in others. He will be remembered for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, children, and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St., Eau Claire, with visitation starting at 11 a.m. at church. Father John A. Schultz is officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
