John Shirley Kolstad, age 82, of Eau Claire passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire. John was born in Eau Claire on January 16, 1930, to Henry and Helen (Anderson) Kolstad. He married Doreen Williams on February 8, 1958 in Stillwater, Minnesota. John is survived by his son, Chris (Maureen) of Altoona; daughters, Tammy (Al) Stephens of Eau Claire, Virginia (Daniel) Rude of Elk Mound, Becky (Kerry) Parker of Eau Claire, Tina (Jason) Dean of Chippewa Falls; several grandc hildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Knickerbocker of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Muriel Kolstad of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Larry Bowman of Milwaukee, along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Doreen in 2004; his parents; grandson, Johnny Pederson; brother, Delos; and sister, Virginia. John enjoyed woodworking, fishing and playing cards. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and father-in-law. Funeral Service will be held at 7 PM on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire with Pastor Roy Clickner officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the chapel.
