John T. Miller, 80, of Eau Claire, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Heartland Hospice. John was born in Eau Claire, WI, a son to Howard and Erma (Zutter) Miller. He graduated in 1953 from St. Patrick's Catholic School, in Eau Claire before joining the Navy in 1956. John married Mary Steinmetz at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls, WI, on September 13, 1958, enjoying 57 years of marriage. John worked at Uniroyal for 38 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending countless hours in the woods with his brothers and many other members of the Miller family and friends. John loved his Wisconsin Badgers, supporting his grandchildren's extracurricular activities, and bowling with his team, the Leaky Bladders. John and Mary enjoyed their trips to the casino, spending time with family and friends, and going on family vacations. Lots of memories were made, and fish were caught, at their cottage in Minong. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his sons, Patrick Miller, Stephen Miller, and Donald (Christine) Miller; his daughter, Debra (Darryl) Balts; eight grandchildren, Jason, Christopher, Dana, Andrea, Brandon, Jonathan, Maija, and Rozi; eight great-grandchildren, Haley, Leah, Cameron, Novalie, Everett, Emma, Elle, Everley; brothers, sisters, many nieces, nephews, and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jeffrey. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St., Eau Claire, with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 6:30, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Inurnment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery with Military Honors.
