John Allen Moore was born on February 13, 1945 in Kansas City, MO to Ben Hawkins Moore and Alice Winifred Bassett. He attended schools in Kansas City until the family moved to St. Cloud, MN when he was 15 years old. He attended St. Cloud Technical High School and graduated in 1963. He then attended St. Cloud State University and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. For the first 5 years of his career he taught in Hutchinson, MN. In 1972, he moved to Eau Claire to become a music teacher in the just opening DeLong Jr. (later Middle) School. He taught mainly at that school until he retired in 2000. On December 27, 1967 he married Sandra Kay Lindquist at First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian, MN. To this union one daughter, Kathryn Alice was born. John is remembered by all as a kind, generous and loving man to his wife and daughter, and everyone else he met. Music was his passion, and he took every opportunity he could to sing and play his guitar or violin for other people to enjoy. He also loved to play golf, and would spend much of his free time at the golf course, where he always preferred to walk rather than ride in a cart. John is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Kathryn (Blake) Eakright; one brother, James (Nova Smith) of Evanston, IL; one sister, Donna Habermeyer of Madison, WI; a sister-in-law, Gwen Moore of Coon Rapids, Mn., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and his brother, Robert Moore. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday June 8, 20024 at Plymouth United Church of Christ, 2010 Moholt Drive, Eau Claire, WI., with Reverend David Huber officiating.
