Obituary

John E. A. Nimsger, 88, of Fall Creek died Monday, November 3, 2008, at Wissota Healthcare in Chippewa Falls. He was born in Eau Claire on November 30, 1919, the son of John and Myra Viola (Gerber) Nimsger. \r\nJohn was a Veteran of World War II, serving from August 5, 1942, until his honorable discharge on October 16, 1945, at Camp McCoy as a PFC. He was a longtime member of V.F.W. Post #305 and was very proud of the five Bronze Stars he was awarded for his service in the military.\r\nJohn worked at National Presto Industries for many years until starting his own business, Standard Furnace Service. He retired in 1981.\r\nHe was an excellent carpenter and mechanic, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.\r\nJohn is survived by his daughter, Rita (Andy) Field of Chippewa Falls; son, Mark Nimsger of Fall Creek; granddaughter Alissa (Jesse) Schuster of Chippewa Falls; sister, Florence Dahlby of Eau Claire; cousin, Sister Monica (Mai) of St. Bede Priory, Eau Claire; and nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Juanita Whight and Beatrice Nimsger.\r\nHis family would like to thank the staff of Wissota Health Transitions Unit and Northwest Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire with Chaplin Kathy Larson officiating. VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside honors. Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral&Cremation Services is serving his family.
