John W. Preston, 78, of S. 3877 Silver Springs Ct. passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, April 13, 1996. A life long resident of the Town of Brunswick, he was born July 13, 1917 to Allen and Anna (Hawley) Preston. John married Judy Lee on January 10, 1942 in Milwaukee. A veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, he was honorably discharged in 1945.\r\n John worked 33 years as an electrician for I.B.E.W. Local 953 and was a member of its executive board. After his retirement he managed and worked the Eau Claire Farmers Market for 15 years.\r\nHe was a member of V F W Post 305 and an active member of Moose Lodge 1408. He was founder of Little Red Cardinals 4-H Club and a general leader for 40 years. John was a life long member of Grace Lutheran Church. \r\nSurvivors include his wife, Judy; three sons, Lorin (Winnie) of Shawano, Jon (Barb) of Hayward and Chris (Karen) of Eau Claire; two daughters, Jewel (Gary) Roth of Lake Odessa, MI, and Ruth Preston of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sherman (Raghnild) of Fall Creek and Clare (Helene) of Thorp; two sisters, Helen (Waldo) Wold of Milwaukee and Bertha (Louis) Blaser of Sun Prairie; two sister-in-laws, Hertha Preston of Racine and Olinda Preston of Eau Claire, and many nieces and nephews.\r\nJohn was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Walter, Leonard, Neil, Orin, and twins, Amos and Allen; two sisters, Emma Lindgren and Mary Lewallen.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Barbara A. Koch officiating. Burial will be in Brunswick Cemetery, Town of Brunswick. Friends may call 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
