\r\nJohn R. Zurbuchen, 69, of Eau Claire, died on Friday, August 12, 2011, at home surrounded by his family.\r\nHe was born on February 10, 1942 in Eau Claire, to Otto and Florence (Dodge) Zurbuchen. He graduated from Memorial High School. He attended several years at UW Eau Claire where he played football and was All-American. \r\nAfter college he held various jobs before working at FABCO, from where he retired at age 62. He enjoyed hunting and fishing his whole life, and spending time at his cabin up north. He came to the Lord in 1970 and was actively involved in his church, New Life Open Bible in Hallie. John tried to share Christ with others every opportunity he could. \r\nJohn is survived by his sons, Tate (Paula) and Jesse (Amy) Zurbuchen; 5 grandchildren, Makenna, Ryan, Alexandria, Noah, and Kourtney Zurbuchen; 2 sisters, Juanita (Robert) Jensen, and his twin sister, Judy Verhelst; former wife, Diane Zurbuchen; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Evangel Assembly of God, 3906 Kane Road, Eau Claire with Rev. Scott Emerson officiating. Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at church. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire.
