Joseph F. Abere, age 83, of Eau Claire WI and formerly of White Bear Lake, Minnesota died Monday, September 22, 2003. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 30, 1920, the son of Louis and Amelia (Bacigalupo) Abere. Joseph married Grace Lawlor on December 26, 1943 in Queens Village, New York City, NY.\r\nJoseph earned a bachelor's degree at Queen's College, New York and his master's degree and Ph.D. in chemistry at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He came to 3M in 1948 as a research scientist in Central Research. Joe retired in the summer of 1984 as a Corporate Scientist and member of the Carlton Society. He continued to work as a consultant for 3M until the spring of 2003.\r\nHe is survived by his beloved wife Grace, of 60 years; two sons, Dr. Dennis (Anne) of Milwaukee, WI, and Douglas (Ann) of Lakeville, MN; five daughters, Linda Abere of Nassau, Bahamas, Cynthia (Dr. Michael) Cragg of Rice Lake, WI, Christine (Anthony) Arnerich of Portland, Oregon, Kathleen (Dr.William) Morin of Eau Claire, WI and Mary Jeanne (John) Hecht of Rockford, IL. Grandchildren; Amy Cragg, Scott Cragg, Michael Abere, Nicholas Arnerich, Lukas Arnerich, Kathryn Arnerich, Jaclyn Morin, Kelly Morin, Benjamin Hecht, Julie Hecht, Alison Abere and Jennifer Abere. \r\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2003 at St. Pius X Church, White Bear Lake, MN with Father Michael J. Krenik officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Mahtomedi, MN. Visitation will be an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
