Joseph F. Ausman, age 84, of Eau Claire, died peacefully on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Joe was born in the town of Wheaton, on May 19, 1928, to Frederick and Marbelle (Canfield) Ausman. After high school, he began working at the Elk Mound Creamery. He then worked for Armours Meat Processing Plant, formerly known as Drummond Meat Packing. During that time, he also worked at Kerm's Grocery Stores. After his retirement, Joe was an Honorary Member of the American Legion Post #53, volunteering much of his time doing various jobs. He was a long time member of St. Patrick's Parish and volunteered on the St. Patrick's Booster Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1257. Joe enjoyed gardening, helping others with yard work and snow blowing. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events. Joe was an avid Brewers, Packers, NASCAR and Monster Truck Fan. Joe is preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel (Smith) Ausman; and sons, Steven and James Ausman. Joe is survived by his wife, Marion; children, Patricia (Doug) Wall of Eau Claire, Paul (Raquel) Ausman of Chippewa Falls, Larry Ausman of Eau Claire, Roger (Jeri Ann Anderson) Ausman of Eau Claire, Karen (Greg) Stanton of Los Alamos NM, Debby (Steve) Brey of Neillsville, and John (Lisa) Ausman of Eau Claire; step-children, Robert (Mary Lou) Ganther of Eau Claire, Suzanne (Ron) Frye of Eau Claire, and Mark (Brenda) Ganther or Racine WI; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire, with a Public Prayer Service beginning at 7:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 322 Fulton Street, Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to Mass at Church. Father George Thayikuzhithottu will be officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Town of Spring Brook.
