Joseph R. "Joe" LaPoint, 69, of Eau Claire, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. \r\nJoe was born on April 16, 1941 in Eau Claire to Edward and Eleanor LaPoint. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1959 and married Denise Benson on July 10, 1976. He spent most of his career in the restaurant business working at the Chicken Hut. In 1990, he and Denise bought Chick-A-Dee's Family Restaurant. They later sold it in 2006 and retired. \r\nJoe is survived by his wife, Denise; daughters, Sarah and Jennifer LaPoint, both of Eau Claire; sisters, Lorraine Barber of Eau Claire and Barbara (Merlin) Pecha of Stanley; brothers, Harold (Donna) of Fall Creek, Jerry (Jackie), Doug (Rose) and Bill (Diane) all of Eau Claire; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. \r\nHe is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Eleanor; and sisters, Marjorie Gullikson and Eva Sauer.\r\nJoe will always be remembered for his love of family. He was known for being very social and he loved meeting new people.Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. Eau Claire with Deacon Larry Agema officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery.
