Obituary

Josephine A. Hanson, 88, of Eau Claire died Monday, August 4, 2003 at Dove Healthcare. She was born in Ostego Township, Columbia County near Rio, Wisconsin on April 18, 1915 the daughter of Roland and Eva (Kearney) Hanson. As a young girl she moved with her family to northern Wisconsin later settling in Eau Claire where she graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School.\r\nMost of her adult life was involved with a needle and thread. She was well known for her superior seamstress skills, working from her home. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Eau Claire Garden Club, Trees for Tomorrow, North Presbyterian Church, and a home nurse for the American Red Cross. She had a great fondness for animals and the work of the Eau Claire Humane Society.\r\nJosephine had been a resident at Buffington Home and then Mt. Washington Residence in Eau Claire.\r\nShe is survived by very loving friends including Audrey Paulson of Eau Claire and Mary Spiegleberg of Mpls. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Dorothy Hanson.\r\nFuneral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday August 7, 2003 at Christ Church Cathedral with Rev. Joy A. Rose officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services. \r\n
