Josephine Losby Hanson, age 82, died peacefully at her home in Verona, WI surrounded by her family on Monday, July 26, 2010. She was born Josephine Oline Losby to Alden and Myrtle (Hanshus) Losby on March 24, 1928, in Eau Claire, WI. She attended Eau Claire public schools and graduated from St. Olaf College with a degree in Dietetics. She completed her internship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and then began work at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. There she met Kenneth Hanson, whom she married on Sept. 3, 1952. She was a devoted wife and mother and her life was filled with raising her children and volunteering in the community. She was a good friend to many and at her best when helping others. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Hanson of Verona; two sons, Mark (Joni) Hanson of Cambridge, WI and Jim (Joan) Hanson of Verona; seven grandchildren: Adam (Angela) Hanson of Madison, Emily Hanson of Chicago, Kevin, Corey, and Hannah Zingg, and Molly and Megan Hanson, all of Verona; a brother, Don Losby, a sister-in-law, Mary Kay (Chris) Braun Losby and a brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Allan and Pat Hanson, all of Eau Claire.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, who passed away September 17, 2002; her parents; her sister, Marion Losby Johnson; and her brother, George Losby. The family wishes to thank Pastor Peter Narum and St. James Lutheran Church of Verona, the staff at Willow Pointe in Verona, and the staff at HospiceCare, Inc for their loving care of Jo. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home in Eau Claire. A graveside service will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2010. The family request memorials be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
