Joshua C. Bruce, age 37, of Eau Claire, WI, died Wednesday morning, December 8, 2016, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Josh was born July 18, 1979, in Eau Claire, son of Kenneth and Patricia Bruce, brother to Jessica Saliaras. Josh graduated from Memorial High School with the class of 1998. He later attended UW-Stout and Chippewa Valley Technical College. Josh was a 4th degree black belt karate instructor at Land Sharks Martial Arts Studio in Eau Claire. His love of karate began when he was in 2nd grade, under the direction of Grand Master Derek Kaio at Karate American in Eau Claire. A 5th degree black belt presentation was scheduled for Josh on Friday, December 16th, which he had been eagerly anticipating. Karate had the biggest impact on his life and everyone at the karate studio was like a second family. His other interests included snowboarding, skateboarding, golfing, and motorcycle riding. He will be remembered for challenging himself to try new things and not being afraid of taking a risk. Josh is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Patricia Bruce of Eau Claire; and his sister, Jessica Saliaras with her children, Lydia, Nadia, and Taylor of Eau Claire. Josh is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Alice Jacobs and Arthur Bruce; his uncle, Tim Bruce; and his cousin, Mike Jacobs, who passed away in April. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church, 501 E. Fillmore Ave, Eau Claire, with Pastor Mark Schulz officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave, Eau Claire, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.
