Joyce Rhea Conrow, 81, of Eau Claire died Thursday, September 29, 2005, at the Clairemont Nursing Home. Joyce was born on March 4, 1924, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Edwin and Pearl (Longdo) Tietz. She graduated from Chippewa High School in 1941. \r\nJoyce married Lowell H. Conrow on March 18, 1943, in Minneapolis.\r\nShe worked 19 years as an administrative executive secretary at the UW-Eau Claire, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Lake St. United Methodist Church and enjoyed supporting her community by volunteer work at Sacred Heart Hospital.\r\nJoyce is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Conrow of Alexandria, VA; two sons, James (Cheryl) of Upper Marlboro, MD, and William of Anchorage, AK; a granddaughter, Bianca Brown of Alexandria, VA, daughter-in-law, Kathy Conrow of West Bend; brother, Harrison Tietz of Altoona; sister, Jean DeSanders of Eau Claire; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell; a daughter, Cathy; and a son, Richard.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2005, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Dr. Rev. E. Doyle Blanton officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.\r\nMemorial gifts may be directed to UW-Eau Claire Foundation, Schofield Hall 214, P.O. Box 4004, Eau Claire, WI 54702-4004, for the "Conrow Family Memorial Scholarship Fund-Account #95" in memory of Joyce for the purpose of providing support to local fine art students.\r\n
