Joyce Legge Alcott, 98, passed away September 2nd, 2017, at River Pines Nursing Home in Altoona, Wisconsin. Joyce was born on October 10, 1918, in Denver, Colorado, to Bennie and Clara (Mikelson) Olson. As a young child, she moved with her family to Eau Claire, WI, where she lived the rest of her years. Joyce married Walter "Butch" Legge on January 21, 1941, and together they had 6 children. After Butch's passing in 1970, Joyce enrolled at Chippewa Valley Technical College and became an LPN. Upon graduation, she took her board exams and received the highest score in the state. Joyce went on to enjoy her career at Luther Hospital. She married Andrew "Andy" Alcott in 1976, and gained three additional family members in Andy's sons, Drew, Adam and Todd. Joyce was described by those who loved her as loving, generous, strong, kind, mischievous, resilient, patient, intelligent, and independent. She was a knitter, traveler, dog lover, card player, gardener, sewer, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and she was loved. She is survived by her children, James Legge, Mikelle (David) Malone, Christina (Alan) Ludwig, Walter (Jan) Legge, and Mark (Mary) Legge; her step-sons, Drew (Gill) Alcott, Adam (Maxine) Alcott, and Todd (Karen) Alcott; her grandchildren, Shelley (Mark) Malone Vestal, Shannon Malone, Wendy Malone Hollenbeck, Lisa (Dan) Olson, Dawn (Vern) Anderson, Melissa (Shawn) Sondreal, David (Shanda) Ludwig, Danny (Stacey) Legge; great grandchildren, Zachary, Caragan, Gabrik, Heather, Alex, Samantha, Tyler, Matthew, Kyle, Kiley, Brady, Bryant, Gunner, Dandee, and Haley; and great-great grandchildren, Jordan and Leela. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Walter Blank; both husbands; her infant daughter, Wendy; and daughter-in-law, Ethel Legge. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 Lexington Blvd, Eau Claire, with Pastor Peter Bredlau officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting her family.
