Judith Diane Greene passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Grace Lutheran Prairie Pointe Rehabilitation Facility with family by her side. She was also under the care of Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice. Judy was born on July 30, 1937, at Luther Hospital. At that time, her family was living in Chippewa Falls but later moved to Eau Claire when she was 13 years old. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High in 1955 and was a cheerleader for the basketball team that won the state tournament in Madison during her senior year. After high school, Judy worked for the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company as a switch board operator. Judy married Dick Greene on July 27, 1957, at Grace Lutheran Church. They had three wonderful sons over the next four years, Michael, Timothy and Eric. Judy was a very loving and caring mother. She worried about her boys but encouraged their activities in the neighborhood with other boys, especially when it came to sports. She had a very strong influence on how these three boys grew up. Dick and Judy spent time in Florida for many years, visiting family and friends. They also traveled to many destinations around the country for Luther Hospital and Royal Credit Union for business meetings. Judy worked as a volunteer at Luther Hospital at the front desk and in the coffee shop. She attended many games to watch her boys, while they were at North High School. She and Dick developed many friends during and after North games. She was also on hand for the Eau Claire Area Stars hockey games where her granddaughter, Kersten, was in goal and also at her softball games at North. Judy will be sorely missed by her loving family and friends. She leaves behind her husband, Dick; son, Michael (Carin) Greene of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Timothy (Bev Olson) Greene of Eau Claire, and Eric (Dona) Greene of Edina, MN; grandsons, Alex and Sam Greene of Edina; step-granddaughter, Brittany (Philip) Kim of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; step-great grandson, Elliot Kim. She also leaves sisters, Faye (John) Amundson, Joan (Bill) Carter all of Eau Claire, Linda Laycock and Connie (Alan) Floyd all of St. Louis Park, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Nora Laycock; her grandson, Tyler Greene; and her granddaughter, Kersten Greene. Judy never got over the loss of these two beautiful grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to direct donations to the Eau Claire Youth Hockey Association, Kersten Greene Memorial Fund – Eau Claire Youth Hockey, P.O. Box 1592, Eau Claire, WI 54701. This fund has been providing scholarships for seven years to young hockey players who otherwise couldn't afford to play a sport that can often be very expensive. A visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 1st Ave, Eau Claire. A private family funeral service will be held with Pastor Dean Simpson of Grace Lutheran Church officiating.
