Obituary

Judy Ann Burns, age 78, passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 21, 2025 at Mayo Luther Hospital after a short but courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Judy was born on October 1, 1946 in Eau Claire, WI to Joseph and Marie (Pitts) Johnson. Judy married Gary Burns on November 12, 1966 in Chippewa Falls, WI. She worked for Uniroyal up until the birth of their first son, at which time she became a homemaker and also worked alongside Gary in his home auto body shop. After the birth of their second son and as the children got older, Judy took a job with Arby's and worked there for 38 years. Judy, Gary and their two sons, along with Mark & Kathy Eisold, spent many years competing on the Wisconsin/Minnesota Tractor Pulling Association circuit with their Allison powered modified pulling tractor. They met many, many lifelong friends along the way!! Judy always had a vibrant smile, a hug to share, enjoyed spending time with family & friends, reading, swimming, and watching the Packers. Judy also had a beautiful singing voice and would call every year on your birthday to sing Happy Birthday to you. It was a tradition that everyone loved and waited for! Judy is survived by her loving partner and best friend of 29 years, Mark Roswold. 2 sons, Steve (Sally) Burns of Eau Claire and Jim (Betsy) Burns of Hammond, WI. Judy's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her great joys and include Lindsey (Jeff) Thomas. Jerrod (Katie) Smith, Jackson & Jett. Breana (Max) Unger, Olivia, Mara, Crosby & soon to be baby #4. Collin Burns, Kalee Burns (Sam). 3 sisters, Joycelle Smith of Pewaukee, WI, Joanne Sorenson and Linda (Steve) DesForge, all of Eau Claire, Wi along with many nieces & nephews. Judy is further survived by Mark Roswold's children and grandchildren. Ron Hermes, Hunter (Taylor Jo), soon to be baby #1, Drew Hermes. Teresa Hermes, Lena Hermes. Chris Roswold, Addisyn (Addy) & Reese. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Burns, her parents, Joseph & Marie Johnson and siblings, Florence Weichert, Marcelle Hanson, Shirley Millwood, Yvonne Bradford, Odin (Dean) Johnson and Richard Johnson. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00PM Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th Street, Eau Claire, WI, with Fr. Tom Krieg officiating. Visitation will be held starting at 10am up until the time of Mass at the church. A private burial will be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in the form of monetary donations. Those gifts will be donated to Bob's House for Dogs and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Judy's name. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services, Eau Claire is assisting the family.
