Julia "Julie" M. Lokken, 92, of Eau Claire, passed away at Our House Senior Living, Eau Claire, on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 surrounded by her family. Julie Miranda Holmen, was born July 3, 1923 to Janette (Haugen) and Rudolph Holmen on the family farm in rural Osseo, WI. She was baptized and confirmed in Kings Valley Lutheran Church. She married Aldon V. Lokken there on December 28, 1944. After their marriage Julie joined Al in Washington, D.C. where he worked in Naval Research during WWII. In April of 1945 they moved back to WI living in La Crosse until 1951 when they moved to Eau Claire. Shortly after moving to Eau Claire, the couple joined Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being a part of many activities there, especially working in the kitchen. She served a term as president of the Women of Grace, was an active member of her Circle, was on Altar Guild, participated in visiting shut-ins and sang in choir for many years. Julie's home and family were always of primary importance. She liked nothing better than having the entire family together for meals, fun, and stories, whether at home or at the family cottage at Shell Lake. She and Al closely followed the activities of their children and grandchildren. Julie was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and was able to travel to Norway on two occasions. She also served on the Eau Claire County Election Board and voted in all of the presidential elections. Julie is survived by her four children, Pam Oman of Hudson, WI, Vernon (Dixie) Lokken of Shell Lake, WI, Paul (Carla) Lokken of Eau Claire, WI, and Pete (Sue) Lokken of Eau Claire, WI; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and John Oman, Josh, Sarah (Reese), Grant and Carlton Lokken, Alyssa and Emily Eisberner; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Julie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Al; sister, Gladys; and son-in-law, Robert Oman. A celebration of Julie's life will be held at 11am, March 4, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 West Grand Avenue, Eau Claire with Pastor Dean Simpson officiating. Visitation will be held at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire, on Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 4-7pm and one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, Feed My People Food Bank, or charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Our House Senior Living and St. Croix Hospice for the compassionate care they provided for their mother.
