JULIA KATHRYN (GERBER) PETERSON, died December 29,1997 in Bridgetown, Missouri, where she moved to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. She has been a nursing home resident for the past six and one half years. Julia was born August 14, 1915 in Winona,MN to James and Mary (Eschler) Gerber. Julia was one of eleven children, nine of whom preceded her in death.\r\nShe was married September 30, 1939 to Alvin C. Peterson in Eau Claire where they lived all their married life. Alvin died September 30, 1985. She is survived by their only child Carolyn Jean Ruland and Carolyn's husband Robert of whom she and Alvin were very fond. Julia doted upon her three grandchildren, Kristine Kay (Steve) Cunningham), Kelly Rochelle (Rick) Turner and Kevin and his wife, Sandy; her great-grandchildren, Margaret Rose Cunningham, Anna Marie Cunningham, Stephen, Michael and Scott Turner. Julia is also survived by a sister, Marian Mai of Racine; a brother, John (Arlene) Gerber and a sister-in-law, Donna Gerber both of Eau Claire; a sister-in-law, Edna Gerber of Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. \r\nJulia and Alvin were active members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Together they spent time attending school and sporting events in which their nieces and nephews were participating. They were avid fishermen and had a trailer in Chetek for a number of years.\r\nThough she is reunited with family and friends who have passed on before her, she will be sadly missed.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Natalie Leske officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home is serving the family.
