Obituary

Julius F. Derge, 90, of Eau Claire died Friday, July 2, 2004, at Syverson Lutheran HomeHe was born November 8, 1913 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the son of Frank and Jessie (Birmingham) Derge.\r\nHe attended Cleveland College and Western Reserve, Cleveland, Ohio and was a graduate of The Motion Picture Theatre Managers Institute in Elmira, New York.\r\nJulius served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II as a T/Sgt. He was a chief aircraft dispatcher in public relations and special services.\r\nIn 1938 to 1942, he was Operations Manager for Crowell-Collier Publishing Company in Los Angeles, CA. From 1946 to 1955, he was co-owner of Shea Food Products in Cleveland, OH. From 1956 until retiring in 1975, he served as a corporate officer of Esgro, Inc. in Los Angeles.\r\nHe was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, American Legion Post #53, a lifetime member of Eau Claire Elks BPO Lodge #402, and a charter member of the Third Ward Neighborhood Association. Julius enjoyed fishing, gardening, travel and humor.\r\nJulius is survived by nieces and nephews including, Sandra (Dennis) Bauer and David (Kathy) Gorton both of Eau Claire, and Frank Derge of Colorado Springs, CO.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; and sister, Doris Gorton.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father William A. Dhein officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family. \r\nMemorial contributions may be directed to St. Francis Food Pantry, 1221 Truax Blvd., Eau Claire, WI 54703.\r\n
