Julius "Jud" R. Krenz, 85, of Eau Claire died Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Oakwood Villa in Altoona. He was born in Fall Creek, Wisconsin on September 12, 1918, the son of Julius and Anna (Ventzke) Krenz. Julius married Evelyn B. Bushendorf on October 26, 1946 in Eau Claire. \r\nHe entered the U.S. Army on October 1, 1940, serving with Company C of the169th Infantry in the South Pacific, where he received the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on November 2, 1945. \r\nHe retired as a custodian with the Eau Claire Board of Education in 1982.He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, VFW Post #305 and American Legion Post #550 in Brackett. \r\nHis family will remember how he enjoyed playing cards and their many camping and fishing trips together.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Judy Krenz of Cottage Grove, MN and Brenda (Chris) Peterson of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Shannon (Steve) Vargo of Menomonie, Jake Van Vleet of Eau Claire and Jackson Bowen of Alamogordo, NM;two brothers, Harry (Shirley) Krenz of Beloit and Vern (Kay) Krenz of West Allis; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nJulius was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Herman and four sisters, Alma Balliett, Viola Peterson, Evelyn Anderson and Grace Krohn.\r\nFuneral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor David J. Irgens officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church. \r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association - Indianhead Chapter, 1227 B, Menomonie St., Eau Claire, WI 54703.\r\n
