June E. Mortenson, 80, of Eau Claire, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was born in Hersey, WI on July 4, 1928, a daughter of George and Marjorie (Henneman) Drace. June graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1946.\r\nJune married Darrel J. Mortenson on July 12, 1947. In 1970, June and Darrel followed Darrel's Uniroyal career to Ardmore, OK where they eventually retired in 1980. Following retirement, they moved back to Eau Claire to be near their family.\r\nShe was a member of Saint Olaf Catholic Parish for many years, where she was involved with the church card club and funeral lunch committee. \r\nJune was always busy gardening, playing cards, enjoying family gatherings, and bargain shopping. She was also a member of the L.E. Phillips Senior Center. Above all, June enjoyed being with her family. She will be greatly missed.\r\nJune is survived by her two children, Gary (Jean) Mortenson of Eau Claire, and Karen (Jeff) Lange of Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Jason Coequyt of Eau Claire, and Kimberly Delaney of Menomonie, WI; two great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Ashley; two sisters, Irene (Harold) Bahr of Chetek, WI, and Geneva Drace of Altoona; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrel; and a brother, LaVerne "Bud" Drace.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at St. Olaf Catholic Church with Father Brian Konopa celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass Friday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
