Obituary

June M. Pond, 85, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Syverson Lutheran Home. She was born on June 24, 1925, to Raymond and Agnes (Hendrickson) Pond in Duluth, MN.\r\nJune graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth with the class of 1943. She moved to Eau Claire in 1945 where she joined Immanuel Lutheran Church and sang in the choir and was very active in Luther League. In her later years she was a member of Ruth Circle and the birthday club group. She loved to play cards and spent many hours sewing, knitting and crocheting many afghans.\r\nJune loved to travel and looked forward to her trips to Mexico and Florida with her sister, and then later with her daughters.\r\nShe worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire as a medical secretary to pathologists from 1965 to 1986 when she retired. June also worked as a Senior Aide at Bolton Refuge House for three years.\r\nSurvivors include her son, Thomas (Debra) Price of Spring Grove, IL; two daughters, Kathleen (fiancé Dale Pope) McMahon of Chippewa Falls, and Judith (Michael) Wolf of Northfield, MN; seven grandchildren, Dr. Kristine (Richard) Reesman, Jeffrey (Becky) McMahon, John (Jessica) McMahon and Scott Holland all of Eau Claire, Jessica Price of Galloway, OH, Martin Price of Holland, MI, and Kendra Price of Spring Grove, IL; five great-grandchildren, Matthew and Nathan McMahon, Zachary and Michaela Haig and Ryan Reesman; a brother-in-law, John Bowman; step-daughter, Karan Whitmyer; very special friends, Lorraine Bucklew and Kristine Smith, many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia L. Bowman; son-in-law, Michael McMahon; and a very special friend, Ted Whitmyer.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with Pastor David K. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Her family requests memorials be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church Choir and Parish Nurse Fund, 3214 Golf Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701. June's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Syverson Lutheran Home and Care Partners Assisted Living for the care and compassion they provided for their mother.Also, a special thank you to Pastor Dave, Joyce Anderson, Allison Martin, and other members of Immanuel Lutheran Church who visited June faithfully.\r\n
