Obituary

June M. Walker, age 82 of Eau Claire, died peacefully at home, with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. She was born on June 29, 1932, in Eau Claire WI, to O. Horace and Velma (Kolstad) Gullickson. She graduated from Mondovi High School with the class of 1949. June married Kermit Walker at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on March 18, 1950. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that will be missed by many. June was fond of antiquing, reading, Talking Club, crossword puzzles, and traveled with her husband to 23 different countries, visiting Norway four times. They spent their past 22 winters in Naples, Florida. June and Kermit have been lifelong members of First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. She was very active with the Eau Claire Service League, but most of all, June enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. June is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kermit; sons, Kim (Pam), Rick (Brenda) and Mike (Joann); grandchildren, Eric (Chelsea) Walker, Kjersten (Zach) Berard, David Walker, Brian Walker, Bradley Walker, Ben Walker and Elizabeth Walker; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Braxton, Wyatt and Emanuela. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeffrey Walker; and brother, Keith Gullickson. The family would like to thank Dr. Sandeep Basu and the staff of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, and Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice, for all their heartfelt care given to June. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave., Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pastor Amy Odgren and Lowell Halvorson will be officiating. Private family interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Mayo Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 2060, Eau Claire WI, 54702 or to the UW Eau Claire Jeffery K. Walker Humanitarian Nursing Scholarship, 105 Garfield Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701.
