\r\n\r\nOn Monday, March 19, 2012, Karen Setterlund (nee McCurdy), 68, of Eau Claire, was called to leave our beautiful planet Earth and be in the company of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Karen was born May 30, 1943, in Lancaster, PA to Lt. Col. Charles F. and Lenora D. (Ecker) McCurdy. During her life, she traveled all around the U.S. and attended many different schools. Karen graduated from H.W. Johnson Sr. High School, Sacramento, CA in 1961. Karen worked at UW-Stout Psychology Dept. for several years before working for Wal-Mart Distribution Centers in Menomonie, Wisconsin; Hermiston, Oregon; St. James, Missouri; and Gordonsville, Virginia before returning to the Chippewa Valley in 2004 to work for Hutchinson Technology as a Quality Auditor until November 2006. Karen was a published poet, an avid reader and researcher, and was deeply interested in many things both explained and unexplained. Her curiosity and her passion for learning were awesome. She spent a great deal of time researching Biblical prophecy, astronomical science and technology, and ancient civilizations. Karen is survived by her husband, Gerald Setterlund; her daughter, Lora Wieman and special friend Jesse Marion and her fabulous grandson, Ryan Schuh all of Eau Claire; her brother, Bruce (Carol) McCurdy of New Jersey; two sisters, Jill (Roy) Malody and Cindy Jo (Mike) Rich both of Oregon; and three nieces and one nephew. She is also survived by her former husband, Larry (Sue) Wieman of Menomonie and very special friends she met at "Hutch." She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles. Funeral Service for Karen will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home West Chapel, 1405 North Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire with a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Rolf Nestingen will be officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis MN. The family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospice Care Unit and all the nurses that provide Karen care during her battle. They would also like to thank William "Bill" Setterlund his wife, Lois and daughter, Heather for being there for the family.\r\n
