Kathleen I. Lawrence, 58, of Eau Claire, died Monday, August 25, 2008, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.\r\nKathy was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 28, 1949, to William and Irene Slimak. She attended Lyons Township High School and graduated in 1967. Kathy went on to attend Northern Illinois University in DeKalb for 2 years.\r\nShe married John "Jack" A. Lawrence on May 22, 1988, in Woodridge, IL.\r\nKathy held various positions in workers compensation management.\r\nShe enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, crafts, walking her dog Pennie and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren, niece and nephews.\r\nKathy is survived by her husband, John "Jack"; two sons, Robert (Brenda) Sutter of DeKalb, IL, and James (Kelly) Sutter of Eau Claire, WI; brother, Patrick (Laurie) Slimak of Bartlett, IL; brother, William (Nancy) Slimak; stepsons, Steve Lawrence of New York, and James Lawrence of Palatine, IL; grandchildren, Morgan, Hannah, Caden, David, Timothy, Elizabeth; a niece, Jacqueline Slimak; and two nephews, Andrew and Christopher Slimak.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Thomas Slimak. \r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2008, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Venberg officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Friday, at the funeral home.
