Kathleen "Kathy" Bates (Anderson) died peacefully on July 24, 2025 in Marshfield, WI at the age of 77.

Kathleen was born on December 31, 1947 in Eau Claire, WI to Donald and Evelyn Lahner. She graduated from Regis / Memorial High School in 1966. She married Dennis Anderson, who joined the military and was stationed in Alaska, where Kathleen joined him. The couple welcomed three children into their home: Daniel, Joseph, and Jesse. Her children remember her as giving and loving. Kathleen later married John Bates in 1992 in Eau Claire, WI.

Kathleen loved to serve the church. She was a counselor at the Wesleyan Church in Eau Claire, on staff at the Sojourner House, and on leadership roles at Valleybrook Church in Eau Claire. Kathleen was also a beloved member of her long time Bible study. She worked at Gould, PDM Bridge, and other companies. Kathleen enjoyed traveling, dining out, helping others, giving, decorating, gardening, riding bicycle, spending time with her grandkids, and watching the Packers.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, John Bates; children, Daniel (Ilona) Anderson, Joseph (Heidi) Anderson, Jesse (Becca Yakesh) Anderson; siblings, Sharon Stocks, John Lahner; grandchildren, Seth (McKenzie) Anderson, Joel Anderson, Isabella Anderson, Gaige Yakesh, Hudson Anderson.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 2, at 1 PM at Valleybrook Church (412 S. Barstow St, Eau Claire, WI). A Celebration of Life will follow at 2 PM at Valleybrook Church. Pastor Nate Abuan will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kathleen's life.
