Kay A. Dawson, 63, of Eau Claire died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family and friends.\r\nShe was born May 22, 1945, the daughter of Bertrum and Carol (Anderson) Dawson in Fairview, Ohio. \r\nKay married Lawrence W. Durning on Nov. 25, 1987, in Galena, IL. He passed away in 2007.\r\nKay studied art at UW Eau Claire from 1963 to 1967. She was an extremely talented artist specializing in watercolor. During her career Kay has had many solo and group exhibitions and has received several awards for her works as an artist. She has been published in books, magazines, and calendars. Kay's work continues to be displayed in many corporate and private collections throughout the United States, Canada, Russia, Japan, Western Europe, and Venezuela. Kay's work was her life and she was outstanding in her field of expertise. An artist and a friend to many... she will be truly missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.\r\nShe is survived by her son, David (Patti) O'Dell of Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Kendra and Finley O'Dell of Eau Claire; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; three siblings, Barney, Kelly, and Delia.\r\nA "Celebration of Life" life will be held in honor of Kay at her request at The Joynt, located at 322 Water St, Eau Claire, WI.
