Simpson, 93, of Eau Claire, died on\r\nSunday, April 17th at home, surrounded by his wife and children.\r\nHe\r\nwas born March 9, 1918 in Henrietta Township of Richland County, WI,\r\nthe son of Harry W. and Bessie (Long) Simpson. Keith graduated from\r\nRichland Center High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1940.\r\nWhen the attack on Pearl Harbor occurred in 1941, all furloughs were\r\ncancelled and Keith was then sent overseas, gone for 4½ years to the\r\nSouth Pacific. He served as a Communications Chief in New Guinea and\r\nthe Philippines. After the war, Keith met Joyce Adams and they were\r\nmarried on Sept. 14, 1947. They enjoyed 64 years together, raising a\r\nfamily, camping, motorcycling, snowmobiling and fishing. Keith was a\r\nmember of Lake Street United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime\r\nmember of the V.F.W. and belonged to the Masonic Lodge 112 F and AM\r\nof Wisconsin and Scottish Rite Consistory. Keith relished all his\r\nactivities but most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his family\r\nand friends.\r\n Keith\r\nworked for the city of River Falls as a clerk-treasurer and assessor.\r\n He began working for the state of Wisconsin in1962 as a supervisor\r\nof assessments for the Property Division. His work took him to\r\nnorthern Wisconsin counties which he thoroughly enjoyed, because of\r\nhis fine coworkers and the large stands of timber! When he retired,\r\nKeith and Joyce traveled with their motor home throughout the United\r\nStates. They especially enjoyed their two trips to Alaska. Keith\r\nwas a fisherman most of his life, handing that passion down to his\r\nson Dean. He loved playing euchre with his family and L.E. Phillips\r\nSenior Center friends. His children and grandchildren have enjoyed\r\nmany memorable euchre games with him! His last game was March 28,\r\n2011 during which he "played it alone and made it!"\r\nSurvivors\r\ninclude his wife, Joyce;\r\ntheir three children,\r\nJanet (Mike) Dow, Dean (Linda) Simpson, and Joan (David) Hardie; nine\r\ngrandchildren, Ryan (Andrea) Dow, Robin (Mike) Hugo, David Dow, Jesse\r\n(Jami) Simpson, Joanna Simpson, Sarah Simpson, Kyle (Melissa) Hardie,\r\nElizabeth Hardie and Chris Hardie. Keith has 4 great granddaughters,\r\nJulia, Eva, Lydia and Teigan. He is further survived by\r\nbrother-in-law, Garry (Carmelita) Adams and many nieces and nephews. \r\nKeith was preceded in death by his sisters, Lela and Leone; and his\r\nbrother, Joe.\r\nFuneral\r\nservices will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23rd, 2011 at\r\nLake Street United Methodist Church, 337 Lake St., Eau Claire. \r\nFriends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of services Saturday. \r\nBurial will take place at a later date at Northern Wisconsin Veterans\r\nMemorial Cemetery in Spooner. \r\n\r\nIn\r\nlieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Keith's name to Lake\r\nStreet United Methodist Church or Northwest Wisconsin Homecare and\r\nHospice.\r\n
