Obituary

Kenneth D. Hanson, 77, of Verona, and formerly of 822 Third Ave., Eau Claire, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002 in Madison. He was born October 23, 1924 in Bemidji, Minnesota the son of Lewis and Lavina (Markeson) Hanson. Ken graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1942. He attended Eau Claire State Teacher's college and graduated from Minnesota School of Business. \r\nHe served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from October 16, 1942 until November 1, 1945 and was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Enterprise.\r\nKen married Josephine O. Losby on September 3, 1952. He was employed by Luther Hospital from 1946 until 1987. He was appointed Assistant Administrator in 1954, a position he held until his retirement in 1987.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Josephine; his daughter, Barbara (Mark) Zingg; two sons, Mark (Joni) and Jim (Joan) Hanson; seven grandchildren, Adam and Emily Hanson, Kevin, Corey and Hannah Zingg, and Molly and Megan Hanson all of Verona; two brothers, Donald of Marshfield and Allan (Pat) of Eau Claire; and two brothers-in-law, Don (Therese) Losby and George (Chris) Losby both of Eau Claire.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nServices will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2002 at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Pastor Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside honors. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.\r\nFamily prefers memorials be directed to Luther Hospital or First Lutheran Church.
