Kenneth "Juice" R. Lahner, 76, of Eau Claire, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 13, 1938, in Eau Claire to John and Ruth (Senff) Lahner. Juice graduated from Eau Claire Senior High and joined the Army in Field Artillery. While in the service, Juice was called up to fight in the Cuban Missile Crisis. He traveled to Alaska to pan for gold but returned to Eau Claire and worked as a well-driller for a short time before becoming a fireman. He worked at many different fire houses in Eau Claire and retired as a Lieutenant. Juice enjoyed ski-jumping and placed in several national competitions in Wisconsin, Michigan and New Hampshire. He played fast pitch softball at Carson Park and spent time outdoors hunting, fishing, golfing, making maple syrup, gardening and listening to the windmill spin. Juice was an avid Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan. He spent the last five winters in Florida deep sea fishing, golfing and enjoying the warm weather. Juice is survived by his loving companion, Shirley Thoma; two children, Anthony (Jodi) Lahner of Florida, and LuAnn (Tony) Bahr of Haugen; three grandchildren, Jesse (Ruth) and Kenny (Chelsea) Hestekin and Ava Lahner; three great-grandchildren, Charles, Clayton and Audianne; three siblings, Gloria and Elaine, George "Puck" Lahner; and also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings, Donald "Sonny", Jerome "Rib", Derald, Alice, Eileen, Theodore "Teddy" and Theresa. The family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice for all their care and support, and a special thanks to Ruth Larson for making Juice's last days more comfortable. A memorial service will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
