Kenneth J. Juza, 91, a resident of Oak Gardens, Altoona, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007. He was born on May 23, 1916, in Bear Lake, WI. His parents, Albert and Mary (Kunesh) Juza were children of Czech immigrants.\r\nMr. Juza grew up on a farm near Haugen, WI. In 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon completion of officer candidate school, he spent 21 months in the Southwest Pacific and Philippines with the 841st Engineer Aviation Battalion. After WWII he returned to the Rice Lake area. For some years he and a brother owned and managed the Cross Roads Service Station and Café in Cameron. Mr. Juza married Eleanor Radtke in Rice Lake on June 17, 1947.\r\nIn the 1950s, Mr. Juza returned to active duty in the Army. In addition to assignments on the U.S. mainland, he had tours of duty in Japan, Korea, Europe, and Hawaii. He was deployed to Vietnam in 1965 with the 25th Infantry Division. He retired from active duty in 1968 and settled in Eau Claire with his family.\r\nMr. Juza is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Eau Claire; daughter, Barbara Juza of Miami, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Jim Fox of Carbondale, IL; and grandson and wife, Stephen and Stephanie Fox of Charleston, IL. Other survivors include three brothers, Charles M. Juza of Blue River, OR, Robert K. Juza of Rice Lake, and Eugene Juza of Springfield, OR.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Florence Juza; and his brother, Donald Juza.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father William A. Dhein and Father Phillip Juza officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire.
