Kenneth Polden, 81, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born in Eau Claire on March 28, 1924, the son of John and Emma (Espeseth) Polden.\r\nHe served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II until his honorable discharge on February 14, 1946.\r\nKenneth married Gloria I. Hessler on December 8, 1946, in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was owner and operator of Polden Concrete until his retirement and continued to work with his sons.\r\nHe was a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, Eau Claire Moose Lodge #1408, and American Legion Post #53.\r\nHe enjoyed hunting and fishing with family, working in his garden and baking bread to share with his children and friends.\r\nKenneth is survived my his wife, Gloria; five children, Kenny (Annette) Polden, Jane Polden, Jerry (Jeanne) Polden, Kathy (Jeff) White, and Robert (Susan) Polden all of Eau Claire; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremiah) Smith, Jessica Polden, Jacob, Joshua and Sarah White, Becky (Cory) Schalinske, Jerad Polden, Amanda (Dave) Minnich and Laurissa Polden; a great grandson, Hunter David Minnich all of Eau Claire; two sisters, Jean Anderson of Chippewa Falls and Josie Monson of Eau Claire; and many nieces, nephews, and many friends.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Olia, George and John Polden; and a sister, Cora Rude.\r\nFuneral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ with Reverend David Huber officiating. Burial will in Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
