Obituary

LaMoine Rosman Bunce, 89, of Eau Claire, died Monday, April 7, 2008, surrounded by his loving family at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was born on March 15, 1919, to Merle and Myrtie (Rosman) Bunce in the Town of Naples, Buffalo County.\r\nHe married Alvina D. Pehlke on January 22, 1941, in Decorah, IA. They celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage until the time of her passing on June 11, 1996.\r\nLaMoine enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 14, 1943. He served in the 850th Aviation Engineer Battalion during WWII until the time of his honorable discharge on October 10, 1945. \r\nHe worked at Arnstad-Koenig Inc. for 34 years until his retirement in 1981.\r\nLaMoine was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and of American Legion Post #53.\r\nAmong his hobbies, were hunting, fishing, shelling, and shell crafting. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. \r\nSurvivors include his son Gary of Eau Claire; two daughters, Patricia (Gary) Holstein of Eau Claire and Cheryl Mattison of Elk Mound; four grandchildren, Greg Holstein of Eau Claire, Jeff (Jody) Holstein of Champlin, MN, Joel Bunce of Chippewa Falls, Sue (Eric) Schmidt of Chippewa Falls; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ardis (Vern) Powers, Marciel (Cliff) Powers, and Muriel Baumgarten, all of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alvina; a granddaughter, Janeen Holstein, and a grandson, Dan Bunce; a sister, Ivagene Kleven; and by a son-in-law, Matt Mattison.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Karen M. Hofstad officiating. Burial with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post #53 will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.\r\n
